Only 13 statues in 67 years! Modi govt alone brought 67 statues- Kishan Reddy

New Delhi: The statue of mother Annapurna, who was stolen in 1913, has been brought back from Canada. Today, the statue of the mother has been handed over to the UP government by the Archaeological Department of the Government of India by reciting the puja of the entire legislation. Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy has given the statue to UP government minister Suresh Rana. The statue of Mother Annapurna will be taken out from several districts of Uttar Pradesh for 4 days and taken to Varanasi. Where CM Yogi Adityanath will install the statue of the mother at Kashi Vishwanath temple with enactment on November 15.

Talking to the media, Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said that only 13 ancient idols were brought back from abroad from 1947 to 2014 before Narendra Modi became PM. While 67 idols have been brought back in the last 7 years. There are currently 157 old statues and other things in the US, which are also being identified and brought back to India. Today the statue of Mother Annapurna has been sent to UP in a grand manner. Reddy said that after the Modi government came to power at the Centre, many saints and saints of the country had met PM and demanded that very ancient and important statues from many temples across the country have been stolen and sent abroad, try to bring them back. After which PM Modi directed the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Archaeology in this regard.

Reddy said that since then, whenever a statue or an antique object is identified, the Ministry of External Affairs collects information about it and then it is shared with the Ministry of Culture. The Ministry of Culture then collects complete information about the object. The Department of Archaeology shares the object with the Ministry of External Affairs by preparing other information including what is important, how old it is, and then the Ministry of External Affairs talks with the government of that country and brings it back.
