On Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa clarified that only the MLAs who won in the recent by-elections will be made ministers. The BJP won 12 out of 15 seats in the by-elections on December 5 and easily won a majority in the assembly. Since then, vigorous lobbying has started among those seeking ministerial posts for cabinet expansion.

Sriramulu is keen to get the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Yeddyurappa told reporters here that 'We have already said that those who won in the recent assembly by-elections will be made ministers.

MLAs G Somasekhara Reddy, Murugesh Neerani, Umesh Katti, Ramesh Jarkiholi and Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi met Yeddyurappa on Tuesday and are believed to have discussed cabinet expansion. Sources in the BJP said that Jarkiholi along with the Ministry of Water Resources has demanded that he be made the Deputy Chief Minister.
