Today, OpenAI is hosting its much-anticipated Spring Update event, aiming to unveil significant upgrades to ChatGPT and its GPT-4 AI model. This event, led by Sam Altman, is strategically timed just ahead of Google's annual developer conference, I/O 2024, possibly aiming to steal some spotlight from the tech giant.

Contrary to speculations earlier this week, OpenAI clarified that they won't be launching a search engine to challenge Google, squashing rumors about a potential rivalry with Gooigle and Perplexity AI. Additionally, Altman dismissed talks about unveiling GPT-5, stating that it's not on their agenda for now. However, considering the last update to their language models was in November last year, users are eagerly awaiting some much-needed enhancements to ChatGPT. Currently, access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo is limited to the ChatGPT Plus plan, priced at Rs.1,650 per month.

Here's how you can catch the OpenAI Spring Update event:

Tune in to the live stream starting at 10:00 am Pacific Time or 10:30 pm India Time on OpenAI's official website. It's yet to be confirmed whether the announcements will also be broadcasted on their YouTube channel.

What's Coming Up:

Reports suggest that OpenAI might unveil a groundbreaking AI voice assistant to compete with Apple's Siri and Google Assistant. According to insiders, this new assistant promises quicker and more accurate image and audio interpretations compared to existing models. It's rumored to outperform GPT-4 Turbo in certain question-answer scenarios, although it's still prone to errors like hallucinations.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), developer Ananay Arora hinted at another exciting feature: phone calls via ChatGPT. Sharing a screenshot of call-related code, Arora revealed that OpenAI has set up servers for video and audio calls, potentially revolutionizing how users interact with AI assistants.
