New Delhi: Friday saw the Lok Sabha adjourned until noon and the Rajya Sabha adjourned for the entire day due to demands from opposition members concerning the Manipur situation.

Within the Lok Sabha, the opposition members passionately called for an immediate discussion on the no-confidence motion, which had already gained acceptance from Speaker Om Birla.

As the day began, the Speaker initiated the Question Hour, but the opposition members interrupted the proceedings by raising slogans in support of their demand.

Drawing from history, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury pointed out the precedent set in 1978 when the House commenced the debate on a no-confidence motion on the very day it was accepted.

Responding to the situation, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi assured that the government was ready for the debate, emphasizing that the day and time would be determined by the Speaker and that the rules allowed a 10-day window.

Faced with the commotion, the Speaker decided to adjourn the House until noon.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Speaker Birla had accepted the no-confidence motion, which had received backing from opposition members.

Similarly, in the Rajya Sabha, the demands raised by opposition members concerning Manipur led to an adjournment for the entire day.

The opposition parties persisted in their protests within the House, seeking a comprehensive discussion on the Manipur situation and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Furthermore, the House paid tribute to Vinay Dinu Tenulkar, who is retiring and has made significant contributions throughout his tenure.
