New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Uddhav Thackeray faction and a Rajya Sabha MP, has drawn attention to the escalating violence in Manipur and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement on the matter. Raut emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that Manipur is currently "burning" and warning that the unrest could potentially spread to other states.

For the past eight days, opposition members of the anti-BJP coalition have been relentlessly attempting to garner the attention of PM Modi regarding the Manipur issue. Raut stressed the need for the Prime Minister to address the crisis, emphasizing that it is not just a problem limited to Manipur but a matter that concerns the entire nation.

"We implore PM Modi to step forward and speak about the situation in Manipur. Lives are being lost, and the unrest is seeping beyond the borders of the state. We are ready to listen to him without any resistance," Raut expressed.

The Parliament session on Thursday was marred by disruptions as opposition members demanded discussions under Rule 287 concerning the Manipur situation. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced adjournments till 2 pm, with noisy scenes dominating the proceedings.

Wearing black clothes as a sign of protest, many opposition members voiced their demands, causing interruptions during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's statement on 'Latest Developments in Foreign Policy.' Amidst the chaos, ruling party members briefly countered the disruptions by chanting "Modi, Modi."

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the gathering, stating that India's rise as a nation is unstoppable in this decade. Despite Dhankhar's call for a supplementary on Jaishankar's remarks, the opposition continued to raise slogans in support of their demands, including a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur situation.
