Opposition may field Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Gopal Krishna as presidential candidate

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Delhi called opposition leaders for a meeting to decide the name of the presidential candidate. The TRS, AAP and BJD have certainly shied away from this important meeting of opposition leaders, but the rest of the opposition leaders attended the meeting and expressed their opinion on the presidential candidature.  

According to sources, it is being reported that gopal krishna gandhi's name is leading the race in the meeting of opposition leaders. Let me tell you that Gopal Krishna is the grandson of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He is the Governor of West Bengal and a former IAS officer. Apart from Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the opposition leaders also discussed the issue of fielding Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and Yashwant Sinha. The opposition leaders, who attended the meeting, which began in the afternoon at the Constitution Club here on Wednesday, were welcomed at the entrance of the hall by Mamata Banerjee herself.  

Apart from Mamata Banerjee, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy of JDS, Jairam Ramesh and Randeep Surjewala of Congress, Akhilesh Yadav of SP, Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, Jayant Chaudhary of RLD, Vinay Vishwam of CPI, Manoj Jha of rjd and sukhendu shekhar rai of trinamool were present on the occasion.
