The opposition, organisations criticized prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Sivasagar after he skipped main issues affecting Assam during his speech.
The opposition parties and organisations termed the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi an election campaign rally.
Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Sivasagar, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) said that nothing about the main issues affecting the State was said by the Prime Minister during the course of his speech.AASU Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya said, “Nothing of the main issues affecting Assam was said by the Prime Minister. Nothing about repealing CAA was said. Nothing on implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord was said. Nothing was mentioned by the Prime Minister about the yearly flood crisis in the State."On the other hand, the Congress too slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘skipping’ the issues affecting Assam. Reacting on the Prime Minister’s speech, Assam Congress President Ripun Bora said, “This was not a function to distribute land pattas. It was an election campaign rally, disguised as a land patta distribution function, where the PM failed to address the issues affecting Assam and only highlighted the so-called achievements of the BJP Government in the State.”
PM Modi was in Assam’s Sivasagar on Saturday to attend a public meeting, where he distributed land pattas (allotment certificates) to over a lakh of indigenous people of the district.
