New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh has broken his one-day fast today. In the morning, JDU leaders gave him juice and he broke his fast. The Rajya Sabha, angered by the opposition's uproar on September 20, announced a 24-hour fast yesterday, which ended in the morning.
Opposition prepares for demonstration: The monsoon session is expected to be stormy even today. Opposition parties are due to meet. They are also ready for demonstration. The decision to continue the proceedings of the upper house has been taken even after 1 pm. It is said that the proceedings have been adjourned indefinitely.
The opposition is adamant on these demands: The biggest case is the suspension of 8 MPs from the Rajya Sabha. The opposition is speaking in one voice to withdraw the suspension of all MPs. The opposition has carried out rallied against the government over the other 3 demands. They demand that the government should decide not to purchase crops below the MSP. Secondly, the MSP should be determined according to the Swaminathan Committee formula and there is a demand that the government should ensure that FCI or state agencies make purchases from farmers at the prescribed MSP.
The opposition does not want to retreat on the issue of Agriculture Bills. The Congress-led 17 opposition parties wrote to the president on Tuesday. They also mentioned about the proceeding of the Rajya Sabha. Now the president is preparing to meet. Only after which the opposition parties will decide on the next strategy.
