The former Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, the Opposition leader and Congress party MLAs met the Manipur governor Najma Heptulla at Raj Bhawan in Imphal on Friday, October 23 to submit a petition to disqualify 12 parliamentary secretaries appointed in 2017 by the present BJP led coalition government in the state. They were appointed to holding Office of Profit as the Parliamentary Secretaries.

The petition tells that the appointment of the 12 parliamentary secretaries is against the Constitution. The Congress team appealed to the Governor to take suitable action as per the provisions of the Constitution. The Congress MLA team includes Gaikhangam, K Ranjit Singh, Konthoujam Govindas, Keisham Meghachandra Singh and DD Thaisi. DD Thaissi, a member of Manipur Legislative Assembly elected from Karong Assembly Constituency signed the petition.
