Opposition’s breakfast meeting on Pegasus row begins in Parliament today

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi invited leaders of more than 14 opposition to a breakfast meeting at the Constitution Club in Delhi at around 9.30 am today. Leaders of opposition parties have arrived for a breakfast meeting being hosted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi,  to formulate a joint strategy on the alleged Pegasus snooping issue. The meeting, being held to forge unity among the opposition rank, will be attended by all opposition Parlimaent members and floor leaders of various parties.

The opposition parties have been targeting the govt over the alleged hacking of over 300 verified mobile phone numbers, including of opposition leaders, journalists, judges, activists and current ministers, through Israeli Pegasus spyware sold only to government agencies. They have been demanding a discussion in Parliament on the debate. The disruptions in the Parliament monsoon session due to the deadlock between the Centre and opposition parties have led to a loss of more than Rs 133 crore to the exchequer, sources said.

Trinamool Congress, which has not been taking part in all meetings convened by Gandhi so far, is also invited to the meeting.
