BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa High Court has issued an interim order on July 21, 2023, staying the publication of results for the Odisha civil services examination, which was conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) in 2021.

The order was given during the hearing of a petition filed by a Person with Disability (PwD) candidate named Satish Kumar Panigrahi. The High Court directed the OPSC not to release the results of the recruitment test until further notice from the court.

The petitioner, who is a PwD candidate, was not allowed to participate in the recruitment test, specifically the personality test, by the OPSC, citing that he had 40 percent temporary disability.

In response to the candidate's grievances regarding the conduct of the Commission, he approached the court seeking a direction to be allowed to participate in the recruitment test under the PwD category.

Justice A.K. Mohapatra, in his judgment, ordered the Odisha government to establish a medical board. The petitioner will be sent to the medical board for examination. Additionally, the court instructed the Commission to provide the certificate issued by the medical board after examining the petitioner before the next hearing, scheduled for the first week of September.
