Hollywood movie artist Sam Mendes's film '1917' has been given the Oscar Award for Visual Effects (VFX), part of which was produced by a company based in Bangalore, India. These VFX were produced by the Moving Picture Company (MPC) of London, to which the Bangalore-based team made major contributions. Its production supervisor Guilom Rosharon, after receiving the award, credited the entire team of MPC for realizing this cinematic experience and shared the award with all the members.

According to media reports, after receiving the award in the statement issued by MPC, special congratulations have been given to the team of Montreal, Los Angeles, Bangalore, and London. About 600 VFX artists contributed to the making of this film, of which more than 200 are Indians. The film, based on World War I episodes, received 10 nominations, 3 of which were given for cinematography, sound mixing, and visual effects. They have also received two Oscar awards for Jungle Book and Life of Pi earlier.

Enthusiasm among Indian artists on social media: After the film received an Oscar, the Indian artists associated with it expressed their happiness on social media. Arun Kumar told that he worked with his colleagues in Bangalore for VFX of this film. Scores of actors including Ajay Bhaskar, Naveen, Anjit, Sai Kumar, Subhash shared screenshots of their names published in the film's end credits.
