Our 'Rupee' has gone global! UPI will also run in UAE, IIT campus in Abu Dhabi - Important agreements signed during PM Modi's visit

Dubai: PM Narendra Modi, who reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday (July 15) on a one-day visit, received a warm welcome. In Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During this, many important agreements were signed like doing business in rupees and opening IIT in Abu Dhabi. In this meeting, emphasis was laid on further strengthening the multifaceted bilateral relations between India and the UAE. During the meeting, both the leaders agreed to start trading in local currencies, add faster payment system and open IIT-Delhi campus. With the opening of IIT campus in the Gulf country, Indian education will be internationalized and the country will benefit from it.

 

 

Let us tell you that PM Modi's UAE tour has come to an end and he has returned home. Regarding this, PM Modi tweeted and wrote, 'The end of the useful UAE trip. Our country is working for the betterment of this world. I thank His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality.' Payment in rupees instead of dollars in trade between the two countries will bring down transaction costs. Along with this, the two countries also agreed to link India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and UAE's Instant Payment Platform (IPP) to facilitate easy money transfers.

Prime Minister Modi said that since the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement last year, India-UAE trade has seen a growth of 20 percent. PM Modi said that India will increase trade with UAE from 85 to 100 billion dollars. The agreement was signed by RBI Governor Dr. Shaktikanta Das and Reserve Bank of UAE Governor Khaled Mohammed Balma in front of the heads of both the countries. The UAE President had a full vegetarian meal at the dinner hosted in honor of PM Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan Qasr-al-Watan.

PM Modi said that he has always been loved by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan like a brother. He told the UAE President that, 'The way the relations between our countries have expanded, you have made a huge contribution. Everyone in India sees you as a true friend.' Simultaneously, PM Modi met with COP28-designate President Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber and extended India's support to him for the presidency of the Gulf country. PM Modi held discussions with Sultan Jaber on ways to take forward sustainable development and bilateral energy cooperation. PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said in their joint statement that the commitment of giving US $ 100 billion to developed countries to reduce the impact of climate change should be fulfilled at the earliest.
