The Income Tax Department on Friday has informed that over four crore income tax returns (ITR) have been filed for the assessment year (AY) 2020-2021. IT Department tweet said that as of December 24, nearly 3.98 crore ITRs were filed, compared to over 3.92 crore ITRs.

As on December 26, a tweet from Income Tax Department informs the daily statistics of Income Tax Returns filed. 7,26,816 ITRs have been filed upto 2000 hrs and 70,179 ITRs filed in the last one hr. The department has posted https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/ORM.html link to assess for any clarifications needed to file the e-returns. 

Taxpayers are requesting the Union Government to extend the deadline for ITR filing. Due to the Covid induced Pandemic, the livelihood of People are affected greatly, hitting worst the economy of many lives. Union Government is still has to decide on the extension of deadline.
