Mumbai: Elections are being held today for 16 Rajya Sabha seats spread over four states. This includes Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The contest is expected to be strong in all four states as parties everywhere have fielded candidates against their legislative might in the assembly. That is why horse-trading was feared due to the whole election. The Congress had also united the MLAs of Rajasthan and Haryana and kept them in the resort.

BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap has also come to cast his vote for the Rajya Sabha elections. He had cancer and was recently discharged from the hospital. They were brought in a special ambulance. The Rajasthan Chief Minister has reached the Jaipur assembly constituency for the Rajya Sabha elections. A total of 4 seats in Rajasthan will go to the polls.

Differences have started between the Shiv Sena and the NCP over how many votes a candidate got. The NCP wants one candidate to get at least 44 or 45 votes, while the Shiv Sena is in favour of only 42 votes, as the Sena's other candidate may have a problem winning if it gets 44 votes. According to sources, Chief Minister Uddhav is very upset about this behaviour of the NCP. The Internet has been shut down in Jaipur today in view of the Rajya Sabha elections.
