INX media case: P. Chidambaram solicits anticipatory bail from HC

On Wednesday, the former Finance Minister of India P. Chidambaram, according to the reports, has filed an anticipatory bail in Delhi High Court. The bail has been filed in connection with the INX media case. The filing of the anticipatory bail came hours after obtaining interim protection from the arrest in Aircel-Maxis money laundering case from a Delhi court.

According to ANI, the Former Finance Minister was earlier directed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to appear in front of it before May 31. There will be questioning in the court regarding INX Media case.

Earlier, the investigation agency had held P. Chidambaram's son, Karti Chidambaram for alleged violations in the INX Media case.

On February 2, Karti Chidambaram was arrested at the Chennai airport. During his arrest, he returned from the United Kingdom. The arrest had been done an alleged his role in helping Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval for INX Media Ltd. and its directors, Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.

According to Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI, Karti Chidambaram is an accused of laundering Rs 305 crore in the INX media case in the year 2007. Delhi High Court granted bail to Karti in the case in March.
