New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram has said that the National Population Register (NPR) is clearly linked to the National Citizenship Register (NRC), why the Home Minister does not say we will do NPR, but will not do NRC. He should clearly say that NRC will not be applicable, we will only do NPR related to census, nothing else will be done other than the census.

P Chidambaram further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should make it clear that we will not proceed on NRC because the opposite results have been seen in Assam. When Chidambaram did NPR in 2010, Assam was not there, we had no such bitter experience that more than 19 lakh people are not considered as the state.
