The witch-hunt to veto Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati in the country continues. In the most recent development on the Padmavati row, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stated that the film won't be permitted to screen in Madhya Pradesh.
Before Madhya Pradesh, distributors said no to pick up the film in Rajasthan also.
Leading by the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, groups are now captivating to the streets to protest against the release of the film. They've ill-treated and given the Padmavati cast and crew terrible life threats, as well.
Padmavati was lined up to release on December 1. However, the release has been postponed, as the filmmakers submitted unfinished documents to the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certifcation).
With the CBFC deciding to put into practice the rule that says that filmmakers need to submit their films 68 days before the release of the film, doesn't look like the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film will strike the screens anytime soon.
The release of Padmavati has been delayed for an indefinite period.
The Karni Sena has been up in arms against Bhansali for the suspected misrepresentation of history' in Padmavati. In the past few weeks, there has been intimidation and bullying calls for beheading Bhansali and the film's lead actress, Deepika Padukone.
Padmavati has the remarkable star cast Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. The film is based on the 1303 siege of Chittorgarh by Alauddin Khilji.
Padmavati is also banned in UP too.
