The Central African Centre for Disease Control (CDS) on Thursday said that vaccine supplies to the continent have been affected, amid the growing cases of omicron, a new form of corona virus in South Africa. Meanwhile, 1-1 cases of omicron variants have also been reported in Pak and Cuba, which have also caused unrest in these countries.
Africa's CDS chief John Nekengsong said the supply of vaccines is getting affected between india's serum institute and facilities COVAX global vaccination share programme. For which he is also said to be one of the reasons for his poor relationship with the Serum Institute with African medical organizations. Nekengsong said at an online media briefing that it is unfortunate that such a problem has occurred between COVAX, Africa and the Serum Institute.
Meanwhile, the first case of Omikon has come to light in Karachi, Pak. The infected woman (65) has not been given a single dose of vaccine. Dr. Azara Pechuho, Health Minister of Sindh province has said that there is no genomic study of the case at present. Earlier this month, a new case of omicrone was also found in Cuba, which tightened international travel rules.
