Peshawar: After a long-running tug of war, the way has now been cleared to preserve the ancestral mansions of veteran Bollywood actors Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in Pakistan. The Pak government has sanctioned Rs 2.30 crore to buy these two buildings. Final notices have also been sent to the owners of both the houses.

Pakistan's Imran Khan government has directed the two veteran actors to conserve their ancestral homes and build museums. Tell me, both these houses were sold earlier, so there were problems in persuading their current owners. The amount released from the state government has reached the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar. The director of the archaeological department of the province, Abdus Samad, said that the government will soon take possession of both the buildings. Thereafter, the work of maintaining its structure in the old state will be taken up here.

The government has decided to preserve ancestral homes due to their contribution of veteran actors to the film industry. Rajkapoor's ancestral house is here in Kissa Khwani Bazaar. It is known as Kapoor Haveli. Dilip Kumar's 100-year-old pushtani haveli is also in the same area.
