Islamabad: Another tragic accident has occurred in Pakistan, which is struggling with the fury of floods. A massive fire broke out in a bus in Pakistan's Sindh district on Wednesday, burning 21 people alive in the bus. The incident took place in Nooriabad town, about 90 km from Karachi. At least 21 people lost their lives and 20 others suffered severe burn injuries when a bus going to Khairpur Nathan Shah area caught fire on the highway near Nooriyabad on Wednesday evening, officials said.

According to the media, the police have said that the Intercity bus was carrying more than 50 flood victims, who were staying in temporary shelters in Karachi. All of them were returning to their homes in flood-hit Khairpur Nathan Shah when the accident took place. The fire broke out in Jamshoro on the M-9 motorway near Nooriyabad and the bus near Hyderabad, the official said. At present, the dead have been sent for post-mortem and the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, police said. However, he feared that the death toll could increase. Sindh Parliamentary Health Secretary Qasim Soomro confirmed the death toll in the accident, saying at least 12 of the victims were minors, aged 15 years or younger. All the passengers on the bus were residents of the same village of Khairpur Nathan Shah.
