Islamabad: Pakistan approved the emergency use of Oxford-AstraZeneca's corona vaccine. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan on Saturday authorized the Oxford University AstraZeneca Covid-19 shot.  

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Health, confirms making it the first vaccine to get local approval, talking to Geo News. Dr. Faisal also said adding that Pakistan has also pre-booked more than a million doses of Sinopharm's vaccine from China, awaiting approval from Drap.  The vaccine company's Ad5-nCoV corona candidate is nearing completed Phase III clinical trials in Pakistan. The clinical trials of the vaccines showed the dosage to be safe and effective at preventing symptomatic covid.

India, which has already approved the AstraZeneca vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India had started its mass vaccination campaign. The drive aims to cover the entire length and breadth of India vaccinating millions of its healthcare and frontline workers and then reaching crores of people by the end of its first phase.
