ISLAMABAD: According to an official statement released on Tuesday by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, 163 Sikh pilgrims from India have been granted visas to attend the annual Guru Arjan Dev Martyrdom Day slated for June 8-17.

The Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines of 1974 governs the issuing of visas, according to the statement.

"Every year, thousands of Sikh yatrees from India travel to Pakistan to celebrate various religious festivals and celebrations. The visas awarded in New Delhi are in addition to the visas granted to Sikh pilgrims from other countries who are attending these ceremonies." The visas are being issued in accordance with Pakistan's pledge to fully follow the Bilateral Protocol on Religious Shrines Visits between the two nations, according to the statement.

Charge d'Affaires Aftab Hasan Khan, in a statement, expressed his deepest congratulations to the pilgrims and wished them a profitable and satisfying yatra. "Pakistan takes great satisfaction in protecting sacred religious sites and providing required assistance to pilgrims," he added.

Pilgrims will visit Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib, and Kartarpur Sahib during their tour. They will arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday and leave on June 17.
