Islamabad: On Friday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent him a message to extend wishes on the eve of Pakistan National Day. Khan said a post on micro-blogging platform Twitter "I extend my greetings and best wishes to the people of Pakistan on Pakistan National Day. It's time that people of the sub-continent work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive and prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence,".

Khan welcomed PM Modi's message and said that it was indeed time a comprehensive dialogue began with India to resolve "all issues". "I welcome PM Modi's message to our people. As we celebrate Pakistan Day I believe it is time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India to address & resolve all issues, esp the central issue of Kashmir, & forge a new relationship based on peace & prosperity for all our people," he said.

However, Sohail Mahmood, the Pakistan High Commissioner to India said in New Delhi on Friday that "diplomacy and dialogue remain indispensable for enhancing mutual understanding, addressing mutual concerns and resolving long-standing disputes, including Jammu and Kashmir". Pakistan celebrates its National Day on March 23 every year to commemorate the Lahore Resolution that was passed on this day in 1940.

Here it is to be noted that India and Pakistan have been at loggerheads ever since the dastardly Pulwama attacks in February and the subsequent offensive launched by India in Pakistani territory to cull out terror originating from across the border. Indian Air Force fighter jets on February 26 launched a major attack against terrorist organisations using Pakistani soil to carry out terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and annihilated training camps of the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot that falls in the Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa region, along with Muzaffarabad and Chakothi in PoK. The terror group is responsible for the dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama on February 14 where 40 CRPF personnel were killed.

To be noted that the attack was carried out by 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets, ably aided by Indian Sukhoi jets that provided cover throughout the operation, around 3:30 am. The payload dropped by the Indian Air Force weighed as much as 1000 kilogrammes. The very next morning, Pakistan Air Force jets entered Indian airspace from Nowshera sector but were immediately sent back by IAF jets on February 27.
