Islamabad: Retired Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa, who was posted as a special advisor to Pakistan PM Imran Khan, has resigned from his post. Asim Bajwa has been seriously accused of corruption. However, he will continue to serve as the head of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Talking to Pakistani media, Asim Bajwa has announced his resignation.

Hours after the resignation of former Pakistan Army chief Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, his media team denied the allegations of corruption. Asim Bajwa said that after the instruction of his family, he decided to leave the post of special advisor. He said that I have decided to put all my energies into CPEC, because we thought that at present the CPEC Authority needs a lot more attention.

Asim Bajwa, considered extremely close to Pak PM Imran Khan, has said that there are many other qualified people in the government's information wing, therefore, he will keep his focus on CPEC. He said that an excellent team was taking shape regarding CPEC and the entire cabinet was focused on the multi-billion dollar project. On the allegations of corruption, Asim Bajwa said that 'I have all the documents related to the property. As a Pakistani citizen, I am ready to give money trail, papers or any kind of evidence on any platform.'
