Islamabad: Former Pakistan dictator Pervez Musharraf has been sentenced to death in a case of treason. Pakistan's special court convicted the former military ruler and sentenced him to death. The case against former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been heard by a 3-member bench of the special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth.

Earlier, a 3-judge bench had issued a statement saying that a judgment in the sedition case would be delivered on December 17. The Islamabad High Court, while hearing the petitions filed by Musharraf living in Dubai and the Government of Pakistan, barred the special court from delivering the verdict on November 28.

Last week, the special court had asked 76-year-old Musharraf to record his statement in the treason case on December 5. After that, Pervez Musharraf, living in Dubai, issued a message to the supporters, saying that he is very ill and cannot come to the country and record the statement. A case was registered against Musharraf in December 2013 for enforcing the Emergency on November 3, 2007, and for suspending the Constitution till mid-December 2007.
