Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has tweeted that the religious places around the world have been opened for devotees. Pakistan is also preparing to open the Kartapur Sahib Corridor, the historic religious site of Sikhs. The Indian side of Kartarpura Sahib will be opened on 29 June 2020. On 29th June, it is the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara was opened on 9 November 2019 on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji. It was being demanded by Sikh communities for the past 70 years to start visa-free. It is included in the most sacred pilgrimage centres of the Sikhs. It was the place of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Garu of the Sikhs. Guru Nanak lived here for the last 17 years of his life. They were absorbed in the light here. Later the gurdwara was built here. The distance of India from this gurudwara is just 3 kilometres. This is why Sikhs of India used to visit it through telescopes before it was made visa-free.

In connection with this gurudwara, it is told that Nanak Dev had started the langar as well. Its construction was completed in the year 2001. The cleanliness of this gurudwara is taken care of by Pakistani authorities. In this gurudwara, part of Nanak, Lahna Singh i.e. Guru Angad was appointed as the successor after his death.
