RAMALLAH: Palestine has denounced the murder of a Palestinian teenager and charged Israel with disobeying promises made by US Vice President Joe Biden.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the Palestinian presidential spokesman, issued a press release on Friday condemning "the crime done by the Israeli soldiers" in the town of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of the West Bank city of Ramallah.

"The Israeli administration bears the costs of breaking all resolutions of international legitimacy and international law, Abu Rudeineh said.

He urged the US to intervene and claimed that it demonstrated Israel's rejection of all the obligations and assurances made by Biden during his recent trip to the area, as per reports.

A 16-year-old kid was killed by Israeli forces in skirmishes that occurred in the village of Al-Mughayyir during a protest against Israel's policy of enlarging settlements and stealing Palestinian territory, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry earlier on Friday.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, several Palestinians were hurt on the same day amid clashes with Israeli soldiers close to the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank. Israeli authorities haven't responded to the event right away.

The Israeli policy of enlarging settlements and seizing land in the West Bank have been protested by the Palestinians by organising weekly protests, marches, and demonstrations.

According to official Palestinian data, more than 600,000 Israeli settlers reside in West Bank settlements, which is one of the main reasons the peace process has been in a standstill since 2014.
