The KFF survey reports that 41% of parents of children 12 to 17 years old, the age group currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, say their child has already been vaccinated and an additional 6% say they will get the vaccine right away.
However, the survey identified an obstacle for increasing teen vaccination rates – 88% of parents of unvaccinated eligible children said they were "very" or "somewhat" concerned that not enough is known about the long-term effects of the vaccines in children. Additionally, 79% expressed concerns about serious side effects. The survey also found that among parents of unvaccinated teens, four-in-10 say their child has expressed concerns about getting a COVID-19 vaccine and 12% say their child has said they want to be vaccinated.
