NEW DELHI: Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested in Parliament to demand protection for people living near Kerala’s forests and coasts.
Priyanka Gandhi on Human-Wildlife Conflict in Kerala: In the Parliament session today, February 13, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised concerns about wild elephant attacks in Wayanad. She said, “Since December 27, seven people have died because of wild elephants. This is a serious problem. Both the central and state governments must send funds to fix it. I spoke to local people: They are doing their best but don’t have enough money. They need urgent help, and I will bring this up in Lok Sabha today.”
Rahul Gandhi Leads Protest in Parliament
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, along with other Congress MPs, staged a protest in the Parliament complex. They are demanding better protection for communities living near Kerala’s forests and coastal areas.
Congress Leaders File Adjournment Motions
Congress MP Manish Tewari filed a motion in Lok Sabha to discuss setting up a renewable energy facility near the India-Pakistan border.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore also filed a motion to debate easing national security rules for the Khavda Renewable Energy Project in Gujarat.
Concerns Over National Security at Khavda Energy Project
Tagore raised concerns about the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, built by the Adani Group, just 1 km from the sensitive India-Pakistan border. He warned that relaxing security rules for the project could be a serious risk to national security. Military experts have also voiced concerns, saying it weakens India’s defense strategy.
