New Delhi: Today is the fourth day of the ongoing winter session in Parliament. Opposition MPs also raised a hue and cry in the Upper House on Thursday over the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs. Suspended MPs protested in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament premises, which was attended by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. The government is demanding an apology from MPs, but they are denying it.
The House was adjourned for the day at 3 p.m. amid uproar over the suspension of MPs in the Upper House on Wednesday. The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2020 was passed in the Lower House yesterday. The bill aims to regulate technology-backed reproductive services. For this, a National Board for Clinics, Labs and Medical Professionals related to Assistant Reproductive Techniques (ART) services will be constituted.
As soon as the Upper House met for the day, opposition parties started creating ruckus over the suspension of MPs, which adjourned the House till 12 noon. Chairman Venkaiah Naidu urged MPs from all parties to sit in their seats, but even then the uproar did not stop. Earlier, PM Narendra Modi held a meeting with Union ministers at Parliament House to discuss strategies in the winter session. In fact, both the Houses are constantly being disrupted due to opposition uproar on several issues, so PM Modi had convened the meeting to discuss the strategy.
