Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has granted the wish of Parul Chaudhary, an Asian Games gold medalist, by appointing her as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the UP police cadre. Chaudhary made history in October 2023 by becoming the first Indian woman to win the 5000-meter race in the Asian Games, also securing a silver medal in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Originally from Eklota village in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary had worked as a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) for Western Railways in Mumbai.
After her remarkable victory in the 5000-meter race, Chaudhary expressed her aspiration to secure a government job, particularly the position of DSP in Uttar Pradesh. Her wish has now been fulfilled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who personally handed over the official appointment letter to Chaudhary, officially designating her as a DSP in the UP Police. This move represents a recognition of her outstanding achievements in the sporting arena and a fulfillment of her desire to contribute to public service.
Parul Chaudhary's journey from an athlete with a historic win in the Asian Games to now holding a responsible position in the police force exemplifies the intersection of sports and public service. The recognition by the Uttar Pradesh government not only acknowledges her athletic prowess but also highlights the importance of supporting and encouraging individuals who excel in their respective fields, contributing to their communities in various capacities.
