Patna: Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) chief Pashupati Kumar Paras on Wednesday suspended party's national secretary Ruchida Sharma for five years on charges of indulging in anti-party activities. Meanwhile, the RLJP Parliamentary Board has decided to support its alliance partner BJP's candidates in all the 5 electoral states, including Manipur. Ruchida Sharma is the north-east in-charge of RLJP. He had announced last week that his party would contest 20 seats in the upcoming Manipur assembly elections.
It may be recalled that after the death of former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, there was a split in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), after which the factions led by son Chirag Paswan and brother Pashupati Paras were making claims for the party. Subsequently, the Election Commission (EC) had allotted new names and symbols to both factions of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). One of them has been named as Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) and the other as Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The RLJP is headed by Pashupati Paras while the LJP (Ram Vilas) is led by Chirag Paswan. RLJP has been given election symbol Bata and LJP (Ram Vilas) has been given election symbol helicopter.
Chirag Paswan had also filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against lok sabha speaker Om Birla's decision to nominate Pashupati Kumar Paras as the leader of the party's parliamentary party in the House. However, the Delhi High Court had dismissed Chirag Paswan's plea saying there was no merit in it.
