The announcement of the candidate by Jana Sena in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency may distance CPI from the alliance. Differences between Jana Sena and CPI came to the fore over seat sharing, when the former went back on its promise to give Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat to the latter in lieu of Nuzvid Assembly seat at the eleventh hour.

On Saturday, Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan announced the name of Muttamsetty Prasad Babu as Janasena contestant from Vijayawada Lok Sabha segment. However, it is learned that earlier Pawan Kalyan assured CPI to allot Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat instead of Nuziveedu Assembly seat. The development came as a shock to the CPI, which went into huddle to discuss the matter. Jana Sena had agreed to give seven Assembly and two LS seats to the Left ally and at the last minute, it decided to field its own candidate Basava Bhaskar Rao from Nuzvid.

Pawan Kalyan in the last minute changed his strategy and fielded Prasad babu in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has announced Muthamshetty Prasad babu as the party candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. With this sudden development, the CPI leaders expressing dismay over Jana Sena's decision and the party almost decided to break away from the alliance.
