Indian travelers can now enjoy the convenience of making UPI payments internationally with the Paytm app. The digital payment platform announced that its users can make cashless transactions at destinations that support UPI, including popular travel spots like the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal. This feature allows travelers to make purchases without needing cash, using a familiar payment method from home.

The parent company of Paytm, One97 Communications Limited, made the announcement on November 19. The new service enables Indian tourists to make payments easily at select international destinations where UPI is accepted.

Easy Setup for International UPI Payments

Activating UPI International on the Paytm app is simple. Users only need to go through a one-time setup linked to their bank account. When scanning a UPI QR code abroad, the app automatically prompts users to activate the feature. Travelers can select a usage duration from 1 to 90 days, based on their stay, and they can disable the service anytime, ensuring that international payments are only made intentionally. This added control helps prevent any unintended transactions when travelers return to India.

Transparent Payment Experience
To ensure clarity during transactions, Paytm allows users to view precise foreign exchange rates and any conversion fees applied by their bank before completing a payment. This transparency gives travelers peace of mind, knowing the exact costs involved.

"Paytm’s UPI International feature empowers travelers to manage their expenses effortlessly while exploring international destinations. Whether it's a trendy restaurant in Dubai, a bustling market in Singapore, or a local craft shop in Bhutan, travelers can now experience seamless cashless payments through UPI on the Paytm app," the company said.
