New Delhi: Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma was arrested by the Delhi Police last month. Vijay Shekhar was detained under Section 279 (rash and negligent driving) of the IPC, later released on bail. The case dates back to February 22 and a complaint in this regard was lodged by constable Deepak Kumar, driver of DCP Benita Marie Jacker.

According to the complaint, the DCP's car was hit by a Jaguar Land Rover car, allegedly being driven by the CEO of Paytm, outside The Mothers International School on Delhi's Aurobindo Marg. According to media reports, Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said that the police arrested Vijay Shekhar Sharma and released him on bail.

According to reports, the incident took place on February 22. In this case, constable Deepak Kumar said that he was posted with DCP Jaikar. Around 8 a.m., he took his car to a petrol pump. When I reached Mother's International School, the operator, Constable Pradeep, was with me and there was a traffic jam. People were dropping their children into school. I reduced the speed of the car and asked Pradeep to get down and clear the traffic. Deepak said, "I was waiting when a car came from the side at a high speed and hit my car. The registration number plate of Haryana and the man speeded up the speed of the car and ran away. Our car was damaged and Pradeep asked me to park it on the roadside. We informed our DCP and they asked us about the car. We told them that we had noted down the number and then we lodged a complaint with Malviya Nagar police station.
