New Delhi: The Right to Information (RTI)  Bill has given a big relief to the Central government. The Telangana National Committee (TRS), Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) have supported the central government on the issue. This has dealt a major blow to the opposition's common attempt to send the bill to the selection committee from the Rajya Sabha.

As per the amendment made in this Bill:-

1) For how much salary you will get, a rule will be made after the bill is passed which mentions the salary. That is, after the bill is passed, the government will have the power to frame rules on it.
In the earlier RTI law, the salary of the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) was equal to that of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). Now, once the bill is passed, the Central Government will have the right to fix the salaries and allowances of the CIC.

2) At the same time, there will be a rule for the term of the CIC to be longer than 5 years.

For information, the RTI Act, "Right to Information" was enacted in the country 14 years ago, october 12, 2005. It empowers any citizen to obtain notice of any act or decision of the government.
