Raipur: There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the whole country regarding Diwali. The festival is starting with Lakshmi Puja on 24 October. Preparations are underway to celebrate the joys of Deepotsav. Some people are planning to buy and some people have started buying. Businessmen are also looking forward to good customer service. Everyone wants to celebrate this Diwali in a special way, but in a village of Chhattisgarh, Diwali has started from October 18.
The people of the village are celebrating Lakshmi Puja on Tuesday, Govardhan Puja on Wednesday and Bhai Dooj and Matar festival on Thursday. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the whole village regarding Diwali. Semra village of Dhamtari district with a population of 1200 has a different identity in the entire state. Every festival here is celebrated a week in advance. Kamta Prasad Nishad of the village told that according to the tradition of all the villagers, every year we celebrate Deepawali a week before the scheduled date.
This time also, Diwali was organized on 18 October, and Govardhan Puja was organized on 19 October. There is a program of Bhai Dooj and Maatar on Thursday 20 October. In the evening, programs will be held according to cultural and folk tradition. In the village, Sirdar first worships the deity, then, the villagers celebrate the festival. Relatives and families have also come to celebrate the Diwali festival. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the whole village regarding Deepotsav. Gajendra Sinha told that Diwali, Vijayadashami, Holi and Pola festivals are also celebrated a week before in the village. Hundreds of years ago an elder came to the village and settled here. His name was Sirdar. It is only on his speaking that major festivals have been started to be celebrated a week before the due date. In the village, Sirdar is worshipped as the village deity. It has been heard from the ancestors that the village deity had appointed the village headman, Baiga was told in a dream that the festival should be celebrated in the village 7 days in advance, otherwise calamity may come. Since then this tradition has been going on for years.
