LUCKNOW: The pace at which the monsoon was moving towards Uttar Pradesh has slowed down. The monsoon has been disrupted after entering Bihar two days ago. In such a situation, Uttar Pradesh may have to wait for monsoon showers for a week now. At the same time, the changed weather has given the state a slight relief from the heat.
The low-air pressure area over eastern Uttar Pradesh and a western disturbance moving towards Jammu and Kashmir from Afghanistan and Pakistan have changed the weather. This has led to rain in several districts of western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut. Similarly, several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh have received rain in two to three phases. Showers were received in Lucknow, Kanpur, Moradabad, Agra, Aligarh. Director, Meteorological Department, Lucknow, J P Gupta said that the monsoon has reached Bihar. The speed at which he had walked could not sustain. The arrival of monsoon was predicted in Uttar Pradesh on June 18. But, given the conditions that are happening, one may have to wait for a week for the monsoon. The weather will remain the same for the next two-three days. It is expected to change and shower.
At the same time, the temperature has dropped by three to four degrees Celsius across the state. Of the 33 districts for which the Lucknow Meteorological Department has received reports, only Ballia, Lucknow, Etawah, Kanpur Air Force and Lakhimpur have recorded a maximum temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature remained below 40 degrees Celsius in all the other places.
