Mumbai: Shiv Sena MLAs had revolted under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, following which, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra fell. Eknath Shinde had formed the government with the BJP. After the Shiv Sena and BJP governments came to power in Maharashtra, there was a flurry of rebellion in Congress as well. Congress MLA Aslam Shaikh, who was a minister in the Uddhav government, had met the Deputy Chief Minister of the Shinde government Devendra Fadnavis in the past few days. After Aslam Shaikh's meeting with Devendra Fadnavis, the talks of rebellion in the Congress had gained momentum. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has now come out with a clarification on Aslam Sheikh's meeting with Devendra Fadnavis.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has defended Aslam Shaikh saying that Aslam Shaikh's meeting with Fadnavis was on issues related to fishermen. There should be no other meaning to this meeting. To a question on Aslam Shaikh's appearance with Mohit Kamboj, who is considered close to Devendra Fadnavis, the Maharashtra Congress president said that it was Kamboj's birthday that day. When Aslam Shaikh had gone to meet Devendra Fadnavis, Kamboj was at his house. He further said that the houses of both Mohit Kamboj and Aslam Sheikh are also in the same area. So maybe they've travelled together.

Nana Patole said that as a minister, Aslam Shaikh had taken some good decisions for fishermen in Mumbai. He also added that Aslam Shaikh had met Fadnavis to protect the interests of the fishermen and that good decisions should not be changed by the new government. It may be recalled that Aslam Sheikh reached Sagar Bungalow and met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Let me tell you that Aslam Sheikh was a minister in the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. Aslam Shaikh is alleged to have illegally given permission for some film studios in the Madh area. Aslam Shaikh, who was a minister in the Uddhav government, held charge of textiles, ports and fisheries departments.
