Jamtara: In Jharkhand's Jamtara, the police has busted a cyber criminal gang who used to cheat people through Paytm. People of this gang used to dupe people having debit and credit cards by putting fake numbers in the search column of Paytm. Police raided Sitakata village under Karmatand police station area and Mohlidih village under Narayanpur police station area. Due to this, 5 cyber criminals have been arrested from Narayanpur police station area. The names of the arrested accused are Vishal Das, Sharad Das, Rajesh Das, Sachin Das and Rohit Das. On the other hand, Kundan Das has been arrested from Sitakata village of Karmatand police station area. Police seized 28 SIM cards, 15 mobiles and 1 ATM card from the criminals.
Jamtara SP Manoj Swargiyari said that as soon as the tip-off was received, a team was formed under the leadership of Trainee Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh. This team conducted raids in both the police station areas and was successful in nabbing the criminals. The SP told that these cyber criminals are very clever thugs. The official said that they used to get the account details of the people through Paytm and used to call them and after knowing their secret code, used to make money disappear from their accounts. Let us tell you that recently, the Delhi Police had busted a racket running fake call centers in Jamtara, Jharkhand. Police has arrested 6 people from Jamtara. These people used to cheat people from all over the country through fake call centers from Jamtara itself. Police seized more than 21,000 activated SIM cards from them.
According to a Delhi Police officer, the people running the fake call centers used to keep mobile SIM cards in large numbers. By calling them, they ask for people's bank account and OTP related to it through different means. Then using it, he used to transfer lakhs of rupees of people to his account. Then used to switch off that sim. Because of this, the police could not reach those criminals easily. When the police scrutinized the call details of the criminals, their wires kept connecting with Jamtara. Police raided Jamtara and arrested six criminals. The police have seized over 21,000 activated mobile SIM cards on his trail. In the investigation, the police have also come to know that the criminals were running the call center from Jamtara itself. They used to cheat people of lakhs of rupees by trapping them in their words. Now the police is busy interrogating the arrested criminals.
