Mumbai: The family of a 65-year-old Muslim man who died due to corona virus infection in Maharashtra on Thursday alleged that he had to be burnt after the trustees of the cemetery in suburban Malad refused to bury the dead. This incident is on Wednesday. The deceased lived in the collector premises of Malvani and died on Wednesday morning at BMC Hospital in Jogeshwari.

The family members of the deceased have alleged that the body was taken to Malwani cemetery in Malad but the trustees refused to bury the body, saying that the deceased was infected with the corona virus. He said, "This was done when the metropolitan municipality had allowed the dead body to be buried at four in the morning."

Giving information to the family, the family member said that the local police and a local leader tried to interfere and requested the trustees to allow the body to be buried but they did not agree. He said that after this some social workers also interfered and requested to burn the dead body in the nearby Hindu cremation ground. The body was finally burnt at ten in the morning with the consent of the family.
