In the Indian state of Kerala, there has been a demand for the safety of animals due to the death of female elephant and feeding of explosive food to cow in Himachal. Dr. Manilal Valiante, CEO of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, has appealed to the government to strengthen the law on animal protection.

He said that such incidents are not limited to just a few areas, but are happening all over the country. PETA receives more than 100 such cases every day. People send their complaints not only to cows and elephants, but also to many other animals. The PETA chief urged the Government of India to strengthen the laws established to protect animals. The CEO of PETA India said, "As per the existing laws, as per the prescribed laws against animal cruelty, only a fine of up to Rs 50,000 is charged from the offender."
