Islamabad: A petition has been filed against Pakistan PM Imran Khan in Lahore High Court. In this, he has demanded disqualification of the post of PM. The petitioner has alleged that Imran Khan has defied the court by commenting against the decision of the court related to former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.
Pakistani citizen Tariq Maqsood has filed this petition. It says that PM Imran Khan has criticized senior judges of the Supreme Court, so a contempt case is made against him. It said that in 2013, a contempt notice was issued to Imran Khan for criticizing the court. The petition demanded that Imran Khan be issued a notice and asked to appear in private in the court. Also, he should be disqualified and the Election Commission should be directed to cancel Imran Khan's membership from the National Assembly.
Imran Khan had recently criticized the Lahore High Court. In fact, the court did not accept the condition of the Imran government that 70 crore rupees (Pakistani currency) be deposited by Nawaz Sharif before allowing him to go abroad for treatment. He had asked Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa to restore the confidence of the people in the judicial process.
