New Delhi: While the country is facing the corona epidemic, on the other hand, the price of petrol deals has also made the lives of people difficult. After a continuous increase for 9 consecutive days, the price of petrol and diesel has increased on the 10th day today. On Tuesday, the price of petrol in Delhi has been increased by 0.47 paise and the price of diesel by 0.57 paise. After this, 76.73 and diesel is being sold at Rs 75.19 per liter.
On the other hand, talking about Mumbai, today in the country's financial capital, petrol is being sold at a rate of Rs 83.62 and diesel at Rs 73.75 per liter. The Delhi government has lost 90% in revenue due to the lockdown. The income of the government in the month of April of the last financial year was 3500 crores, which has been reduced to only 300 crores this year. Officials say this is the first time in 5 years that the government has increased VAT. Earlier in the year 2015-16, the government had increased VAT.
According to government sources, in the last financial year, the Delhi government had earned revenue of 2400 crores only from VAT and GST, but this time the lockdown resulted in an income of only 250 crores. It is well known that the state government earns a major share of the revenue from the VAT of petrol and diesel. This is the reason why the Kejriwal government of Delhi has decided to increase VAT.
