Diesel prices rise for second consecutive day,no change in petrol price

New Delhi: Diesel prices increased for the second consecutive day on Friday. In the two days, the national capital Delhi and Kolkata have become costlier by 30 paise per liter. At the same time, diesel prices in Mumbai and Chennai have increased by 32 paise in these two days. However, there was no change in the price of petrol for the third consecutive day. According to the website of IndianOil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai is stable at Rs 74.63, Rs 77.29, Rs 80.29 and Rs 77.58 per liter respectively.

But in the four metros, the price of diesel has increased to Rs 66.34, Rs 68.75, Rs 69.59 and Rs 70.13 per liter respectively. Oil companies again increased diesel prices by 15 paise in Delhi and Kolkata by 16 paise in Mumbai and Chennai on Friday. Market experts point out that with the increase in diesel prices, the freight may increase in the coming days, which will increase the value of goods and services, especially inflation of essential commodities.

Anuj Gupta, deputy vice president (currency and energy research), Angel Broking, has said that prices of petrol and diesel may increase further in the coming days as the international market is seeing a steady rise in crude oil prices. The price of benchmark crude Brent crude has increased by about six dollars per barrel this month. On December 3, 2019, the price of Brent on the International Futures Market Intercontinental Exchange was $ 60.82 a barrel, rising to $ 66.61 a barrel on Friday.
