New Delhi: Oil marketing companies have given some relief to customers from inflation before Diwali by cutting the price of petrol and diesel for the third consecutive day on Saturday. Petrol price has been cut by eight paise per liter in the four main metros of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. At the same time, diesel has become cheaper by five paise in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, six paise per liter in Chennai.

Petrol has become cheaper by 24 paise while diesel by 16 paise per liter in these three days. After more than a month, the price of petrol has been seen below Rs 73 a liter in Delhi and diesel has started getting below Rs 66. According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has come down to Rs 72.98, Rs 75.63, Rs 78.60 and Rs 75.79 per liter respectively.

Diesel prices in the four metros have also come down to Rs 65.95, Rs 68.31, Rs 69.12 and Rs 69.65 per liter respectively. Earlier, on September 19, petrol in Delhi was sold at Rs 72.71 per liter, down from Rs 73 per liter. The price of diesel in Delhi was Rs 65.82 a liter on September 18.
