New Delhi: Petrol and diesel have also become costlier in the New Year after the increase in railway fare and cylinder price. After air turbine fuel (ATF) became expensive on Wednesday, oil marketing companies again increased the prices of petrol and diesel on Thursday. The price of petrol has increased by 14 paise in Delhi on Thursday, while in Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, it has increased by eight paise per liter.

At the same time, diesel has become expensive by 14 paise in Delhi, 11 paise in Kolkata while 12 paise per liter in Mumbai and Chennai. Similarly, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased in other cities in the country. According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has increased to Rs 75.25, Rs 77.87, Rs 80.87 and Rs 78.20 per liter respectively. At the same time, the price of diesel in the four metros has increased to Rs 68.10, Rs 70.49, Rs 71.43 and Rs 71.98 per liter respectively.

Officials say that due to the rise in the price of crude oil in the global market, prices are being increased in the domestic market as well. Earlier on January 1, the price of oil-air turbine fuel used in airplanes has also been increased by 2.6 percent.
