New Delhi: Rising petrol and diesel prices have not brought relief to customers today. There is no change in the prices of petrol and diesel today i.e. Petrol was expensive by 17 paise and diesel by 27 paise on Sunday. Oil prices have been hiked for a total of 12 days so far in May. Petrol and diesel are running at record levels. In Mumbai, petrol has come very close to 100.
It may be recalled that petrol and diesel prices have been rising steadily since May 4. Earlier in April, petrol was cheaper by 77 paise, but prices started rising since the assembly elections and so far petrol has become costlier by Rs 2.86 per litre in a total increase of 13 days. Diesel was also cheaper by 74 paise last month. But the increase this month has made Rs 3.31 per litre costlier. Petrol price in Delhi is Rs 93.21 per litre while diesel is Rs 84.07 per litre.
In mumbai, the country's economic capital, one litre of petrol is priced at Rs 99.49 while one litre of diesel is priced at Rs 91.30 per litre. Petrol and diesel are being sold at Rs 93.27 and Rs 86.91 per litre respectively in Kolkata. Petrol is being sold at Rs 94.86 per litre and diesel at Rs 88.87 per litre in Chennai. Tell me, petrol is running beyond Rs.100 in many parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Petrol is fetching rs 104.18 per litre and diesel Rs 96.91 per litre in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, the highest in the country.
