Diesel, petrol prices remains stable for fourth consecutive day

New Delhi: The price of diesel continued to fall for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, while the price of petrol has not changed. Oil marketing companies have cut the price of diesel marginally. Diesel prices have been cut by nine paise in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai while Mumbai by 10 paise a litre.

However, diesel prices have declined by 57 paise a litre in the national capital in four consecutive days. Diesel prices in the National Capital Region (NCR) have declined by Rs 2.85 a litre this month, bringing great relief to the general public. According to market analysts, the decline in diesel prices reduces freight prices, which leads to lower commodity prices, relieving consumers of inflation. According to Indian Oil's website, diesel prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai have come down to Rs 70.71, Rs 74.23, Rs 77.12 to Rs 76.18 per litre respectively.

However, petrol prices in the four metros are steady at Rs 81.06, Rs 82.59, Rs 87.74 per litre respectively without any change. Brent crude's December delivery futures contract on the International Futures Market Inter Continental Exchange (ICE) was trading at $42.21 a barrel, down 0.47 per cent over the previous session on Monday.
